I enjoy weightlifting, running and Pure Barre classes. I grew up swimming competitively and continue to swim for exercise. I enjoy hiking and traveling with my husband and our daughter. I’m learning about gardening and have planned an extensive backyard garden this year, as we just purchased our first home after my husband left active duty Navy service in 2017. I love to read books about nutrition, food sustainability and pediatric feeding, as well as spend time in the kitchen trying new recipes and developing my own. I also enjoy photography–specifically landscape and food photography.
I became interested in nutrition in my late teens when I was diagnosed with several food allergies, including an allergy to gluten. I returned to school to pursue becoming a Registered Dietitian after working in healthcare marketing because I wanted a more fulfilling career where I felt like I could help people improve their lives and make a difference. I currently work as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) at a residential behavioral health facility for adolescents.
