What is on your mind as summer approaches? Is it fun, sun, enjoying the beach and life itself? Or does your heart fill with dread at the thought of shorts, swimsuits and the beach, which all add up to pure mental and emotional torture?
Unfortunately, if you are like most women, as the temperature starts to rise and sweaters go in the back closet, fear and anxiety is triggered and it’s all focused on the dreaded summer wardrobe and activities.
It doesn’t have to be that way! Let’s make today the day that you start the transformation of your body AND your mind! There is no day like today to start making a change. Here are some tips to make the Summer of 2014, a summer of FUN!
Get over it!
Ok, so you let yourself go a bit over the winter. The Holidays took their toll and you haven’t quite gotten back into the groove of eating right and exercising. The weight gain has caused you to feel bad about yourself which triggered MORE bad eating and sitting on the couch rather than getting up and doing something about it. This cycle will continue until you make a conscious choice to “Get over it” and move forward! Being upset with past transgressions won’t do a thing to help your future. Make the decision to stop the cycle, get EXCITED about the future and move forward!
There is never a better day to get started than today. Life will never give you the perfect day to get started. Don’t wait until the first of the month or until the kids go to summer camp or until that “perfect” class begins at your gym. Start TODAY!
Chug – a – Lug!
A great first step toward a great summer body is simple. Replace all sodas, teas, juices and other drinks with good ol’ H20! Not only will drinking water clean out your system, but you won’t be ingesting all of the extra calories, sugars, chemicals and sodium associated with these other drinks. Drinking water throughout the day will help you feel full and will curb cravings as well. I recommend you drink at least one gallon of water per day. This amount of water will keep you hydrated and the more water you drink, the less water your body will retain.
Extra Tip: Often times, when the weekends approach and our weekly routines are altered, we tend to forget to drink our water. Combine that with a couple meals off of your weekday nutrition plan and the end result is a bloated “YOU” on Monday morning. This water retention can stay with you for several days. Simply put, “drink your water” on the weekends!
Many women THINK that they are following a solid nutrition plan and simply can’t understand why they can’t lose weight. But when they break it down, they realize that a “bite here” and a “bite there” is adding up to a big enough increase in calories that prevents weight loss! In our busy lives, it’s very easy to absentmindedly take a bit of this or that throughout the day. You may eat a handful of something at 10am, then by 1:00pm you have forgotten and eat another handful, then do the same at 2:30pm and so on. Over the course of a day this can add up to hundreds of extra calories! Simply by shutting down the snacking between meals, you can make a BIG difference in your physique.
Get off that couch! In order to look and FEEL better, you’ve got to move! Make exercise a priority each and every day. Shake off those winter blues, take charge and GO! Get moving today, then get up and off the couch again tomorrow and the next day and the next, you will be looking and feeling better in no time.
GET OUT THERE!
Life is WAY too short to sit on the sidelines because you don’t like how you look in a swimsuit. Many women skip time at the beach with friends and family because they feel bad about their appearance. Don’t miss out on life because you don’t feel that you have the perfect body. YOU are a masterpiece in progress! YOU deserve to enjoy yourself and get out there! Life is a journey, enjoy it and never let self-doubts about your appearance hold you back.
The Summer of 2014 is on the horizon. Make THIS summer a summer of fitness, fun and feeling GREAT!
